Listening To John Cage
My thoughts on John Cage’s Two2
Recently I’ve been listening to John Cage’s Two2. It’s an interesting experience. I haven’t been able to get into his music in the past because of how disjointed it feels sometimes, but this piece is probably my favorite that I’ve heard of his. It doesn’t follow any sort of structure, but just kind of spirals outward in every direction. Every chord seems to put you in a different space— there will be a pretty chord followed by a dark chord, a melancholy chord followed by a harsh chord. Just when you get comfortable he hits you with an unexpected combination of notes. This piece definitely takes you out of your comfort zone, but the question is, where does it take you?

Love the final question here! Where DOES it take YOU?!
